Ratatouille

Directed by: Brad Bird
Starring: Patton Oswalt, Lou Romano, Peter Sohn, Brad Garrett, Janeane Garofalo, Ian Holm, Brian Dennehy

In a nutshell: A rat who can really cook.

For more?: Remy was born with the keen sense of smell, and with this gift, he was appointed the poison checker of his colony. But Remy had other dreams. He was interested in cooking and was inspired by the recently deceased top chef, Auguste Gusteau. One day when the old lady found out about the colony, all of them had to evacuate, but remy, in his quest to save the cookbook by gusteau, got lost but landed in paris, and even better, at gusteau's restaurant. Alfredo Linguini came to the restaurant with a reference letter from his mom and got the job as the garbage boy in the kitchen. Linguini accidentally spills the soup and in his quest of salvaging it, he ruins it. Remy falls into the kitchen and decides to fix the ruined soup, which turned out to be a success. Linguini is ordered to recreate the soup and Remy was caught and was to be thrown into the river, however, linguini felt Remy could understand him and decided that they should work together, with Remy controlling linguini's movements by tugging his hair. Skinner's been trying to find out linguini's sudden talent in cooking and realised at the same time that linguini was in fact gusteau's son. One night, remy found the letter that wrote linguini's heritage and took it to linguini, who now became the heir to gusteau's restaurant. Remy, feeling betrayed and abandoned, especially when linguini was dating colette, instigated a raid in the kitchen but felt guilty afterwards. The most crucial day came when food critic Anton Ego came to the restaurant again, after he degraded gusteau's cooking from 5 stars to 4 stars, but linguini couldnt cook without remy. remy at this time was caught by skinner and was trying to get out of the cage to help remy. soon, remy's dad and brother came and saved him and linguini came clean about his sudden talent. the staff of his kitchen leaves and the whole rat colony when to the kitchen and helped linguini to cook. colette returns when she saw the book by gusteau that reads, 'anyone can cook'. remy thn cooks the ratatouille for ego. ego was amazed and requested to see the chef. he then gave an amazing review about the restaurant and the greatest chef in all of france. however, due to the rats in the kitchen and skinner who tipped him, the health inspector still had to close the restaurant down. ego also loses his credibility when it is found that he praised a restaurant full of rodents. however, ego is now a happy investor and regular patron of the new bistro by linguini and colette and of course remy, La Ratatouille, with a kitchen and dining for both rats and humans.

Seriously?: It is sweet. Rats cooking is something sick, true, but he's a genius. oh and the scenes with the clan of rats scrawling all around was giving my skin the itch.
